From one camera to a creative house
It began with one artist and a camera. In 2005, Awemo Pius started out alone — simply photographing the people around him. The images spoke for themselves. As his reputation grew, he was hired to cover events, and the quality of his work reached a far wider audience.
He expanded, bringing in other artists who shared his vision. Pizaro Studios soon became one of the names trusted with luxury weddings across the country — including Cameroonians in the diaspora who wanted their celebrations back home captured properly. By 2012 the studio had moved into documentary film-making, producing content for the WWF, and in 2014 opened offices in Bamenda and Yaoundé, with Douala — the economic capital — at the centre of it all.
Formally established in 2015, Pizaro Studios today operates from Douala, Cameroon. Our lens has met personalities from every walk of life — from UFC world champion Francis Ngannou and JCI President Roland Kwemian to Justice Forbang of the United Nations, alongside entrepreneurs, public officials, and clergy. Through it all, the studio has stayed what it was meant to be: a place where artists are free to explore, create, and imagine.
